Today we screened Laputa. It was my first time viewing this film and my first impression of it was good. Right away I wanted to compare this film with Nausicaa, and after viewing and analysing Nausicaa, I noticed several trends.
The first trend that I saw was that Miyazaki likes to tell the background story during the credits, and that it is important to view them to have a better understanding of the complete story. I then noticed that the little creature that Nausicaa had was identical to other creatures that later appeared in the movie. Nature, of course, was abundant and the main focus of the movie.
What I like more about this movie as compared to Nauicaa was the humor. I feel that adding humor to a story helps get the point across and mimics real life, because we all feel happiness, sadness, anger and other feelings.
I much enjoyed this movie and its story line =).
